Music and poetry flow through this cosmic seamstress as she weaves together water and fire to bring us her own unforgettable voice. She is not satisfied with convention, but neither is she interested in being overly ham-fisted in her progressive tendencies. Though she may write a song in 15/8 meter, she never sacrifices emotional content for innovation. Her vocal style is emotive, dynamic, tender, and evocative all within the same breathe; mining the depths of her soul ito understand the meaning of being human.

'Undone' was very experimental in nature; many aspects had to be worked out in the midst of the recording process to get the best sound possible, from integrating soft synths into our song arrangements to tracking Artemis' vocal.

We had originally cut "scratch" vocals in our personal studio and had made plans to cut the final vocals at a professional studio. However, after a few attempts to get better vocal takes at several different studios, we decided that the feel of the scratch vocals was much more important than trying to get better isolation. So we figured out how to acoustically treat our personal studios in order to give Artemis a comfortable recording space and get high quality recordings.

We tried to push the envelope on this album, to give people a cross between electronica and traditional songwriting without distilling the very unique aspects of Artemis’ songs. A lot of software synths and drum machines were used, especially Native Instruments Pro-52 and Reaktor, and Propellerheads Reason (which is an absolutely amazing sound design tool). What we were able to accomplish with such modest gear really illustrates what can be done when you keep your ears towards something fresh.
